Camp NaNo is upon us!
I’ve been pushing myself to get these two projects I’m working on done (the character book and Alex’s—you’ve heard me talk about them before but in case you’re just hopping aboard) before Camp starts, but… I’m not sure it’s gonna happen. No, I mean, the character book is a certainty—I already have the testers lined up and everything, it’s my pride and joy right now—but, Alex? Her story is, well, another story entirely. I hate that feeling when you sit down at the computer and you try to get back into it and the words don’t wanna come and your brain is just mocking you, going “haha, NOPE.”
Anybody still have resolutions goin’ on?
I haven’t always been perfect on mine. I’ve been wanting to run the New York marathon for about, ehh, four years now? I can’t even tell you exactly when the desire struck me, but what I can tell you is that nobody’s cheered me through any finish line yet.
Mostly, I think my problem is just that I’m a little intimidated. First off, if I don’t get guaranteed entry, I’ll have to fundraise and make an annoyance out of myself (y’know, not that I’m not already lolz). And, y’know? I don’t travel all too much—another thing that I’m trying to change—and, leaving my small little home in dinky little Washington NJ and staying overnight in a big city I’ve only been to about, eh, three times in my twenty years alive? A little nervewracking.
*sighs and groans of life leaving my body*
The past week month super-long day-melding period of time has been brutal. Countless all-nighters have been pulled. I worked my tail off, and finally… I’m ready for an editor! And I found one, too. As I’ve said before, I’ve taken little Sabine as far as I can go with her. Developmental edits are all taken care of, because I DID ‘EM (because that’s a totally different thing from copyedits and proofreads, BTDUBBS. I still need those, preferably done by someone who’s NOT ME). I’ve beaten the living daylights out of that story and now it’s looking pretty nice. Like, really nice.
Sorry for the post drought, but life has kinda been kicking me in the pants lately. Like, the kind of in-pants-kicking that makes you have to drag yourself into the weekend, which goes by like a… like a… yeahhhh no. Not getting any
metaphors similes coming to mind… Ehh… You can just fantasize about how great my figures of speech will be in my NaNo story 😉
I’m a bookworm. A book freak. Nuts.
What, haven’t I mentioned that before? Hm…
Anyhow, I have self-control around many things. You’re talking to someone who’s been a full-on vegan for about three years. Even before that, if you saw me at Burger King, I’d be eating a salad. Well probably, but that’s not the point. If there’s anyone who knows something about self-control, well… I think I’d at least make the top 50.
But books? Nah. Not even close. Which leads me to my story.
So, I was at the library, just randomly strolling around. I had already borrowed some books, but right before I left, I saw the shelf. It was a little, lonely shelf near the front of the library with discarded books. It was an indoor mini book sale.
